UK Index Banks – Read across from Banco Santander, where net profits +10% (EUR 2.05B), above analyst expectations., however UK division struggling (profits -21%) due to bad loans and high regulatory costs. (FT)

AstraZeneca PLC (AZN.L) – With MedImmune says a combination of its lung cancer drug Imfinzi in a late-stage trial in patients with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell tests has failed. Closing price 5021.00p (Bloomberg)

Rolls-Royce Holdings Plc (RR.L) – is in talks with Aero Engine Corporation of China on a possible partnership that would see the companies jointly supply engines for a new wide- body aircraft planned by China and Russia. Talks are still at a preliminary stage. Closing price 855.30p (Bloomberg)

London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LSE.L) – In a Trading Statement said their Q1 revenue produced £118m against £106m last year, an 11% increase. Its gross profit climbed 13% to £464m increased from £ 410m last year. Closing price 4216.20p (Reuters)

Anglo American PLC (AAL.L) – Expects its Minas-Rio iron ore operation to increase production in Q4 in 2018 which could reduce the company’s earnings by £300-$400m. There continues to be negotiations for appropriate terms on 35% of the employees at the Minas-Rio mines for an extended period of leave. Closing price 1776.20p (Reuters)

St James Place PLC (STJ.L) – Saw a 31%increase in net flows. Gross inflow climbed 21% of funds of £3.91bn against £3.23bn a year earlier. Net inflows It also reported a 96% retention of client funds, Net inflow of funds of rose to £2.60bn against £1.99bn. Group funds under management climbed 12% to £89.91bn vs £79.84bn. Closing price 1148.50p (Dow Jones Newswire)
