BHP Billiton (BLT) – The miner has announced first half underlying profits climbed 25%, its strongest half in 3 years thanks to copper and oil. The miner also saw debt fall by 23%, paving the way for a 37.5% increase to its dividend, beating consensus.

Fidessa (FDSA) – Swiss financial software company Temenos is in advanced talks to acquire Fidessa in a £1.3bn deal, offering 3567p per share in an all-cash deal (21.5% premium to yesterday’s close).

HSBC (HSBA) – While the bank saw both adjusted revenues and adjusted pre-tax profits rise (+5% to $51.5bn and +11% to $20.99bn, respectively), both headline figures missed analysts’ estimates. Management

Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) – The hotel chain has announced full year underlying revenues rose 5% while operating profit increased 8%. Key metric revenue per available room (RevPAR) +2.7%, dividend +11%, maintains positive outlook for 2018.
