Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 called to open flat. Stocks in Asia followed European bourses down over night as Trump’s latest tariff moves against several trading partners, were contemplated by investors. He slapped steel tariffs on Brazilian and Argentinian imports as well as proposing new levies on France. A key Dec 15th deadline also looms for Chinese imports. Oil gained ground again last night as traders gauge the probability of OPEC and allied producers tightening supply. Crude settled up 0.4%  at $56.18. Gold remained largely unchanged at $1460.91 per ounce.

 

In corporate news this morning:

Astrazeneca divests Seroqual rights in US and Canada. Sale will be made to Cheplapharm and will support Astra’s focus on main theapy areas. They will receive an upfront payment of $35m.

Ferguson reports rise in Q1 profit, boosted by a rise in residential housing activity in the United States. The planned demerger of Wolseley is on track and is due to be completed next year. Profit rose to $451m from $413m from a year earlier.

Boohoo says the company continues to trade comfortably in line with market expectations. Since H1 end, trading has been strong across its key brands with a record performance across Black Friday weekend.
