Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open +4 points today at 7082.  A marginally higher open is expected this morning for the UK bluechip index, following yesterdays sentiment lead rally all eyes today will be on US Non Farm jobs data for September which are due out later today.  Stateside yesterday saw The Dow Jones surge 338 points to close at 34,755 while the S&P hit 4,400 with a 36 point gain.  It was a more mixed session in Asia this morning, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is up 483 points at 28,161 but Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is off 65 points at 24,636.

Company News:

Electrocomponents notes that the UK “suffered significantly” over ‘pingdemic’ in H1 as they are on track for mid-teens adjusted operating profit margin by 2025.
Provident Financial have priced their £200m bond sale, which is their first subordinated debt capital offered to the external markets since 2005.
Royal Mail unit GLS agrees to acquire Canadian logistics firm Mid-Nite Sun for around £210.5m.
Weir Group state that they were a target of an attempted ransomware attack in the second half of September, which impacted Q3 profit. They now expect FY profit before tax and amortisation to be between £230-245m as a delay in shipments due to the attempted hack led to revenue deferrals.
