Markets Overview:

 

The UK 100 is called to open +25 points this morning at 7465. A positive open is expected this morning for the UK blue chip index this comes after a volatile session on Friday following July’s nonfarm payrolls data was much better than expected. Wall Street saw the Dow Jones gain 76.65 points, or 0.23%, to end at 32,803.47. The S&P shed 0.16% to end at 4,145.19, and the Nasdaq lose 0.50% Friday, falling to 12,657.56.

AstraZeneca‘s Enhertu drug has been approved in the US for some patients.
BHP proposes to acquire OZL at AUD25 per share, representing a 32% premium to Friday’s closing price.
Clarkson reports a H1 2022 underlying pretax profit of £42.2m (2021: £27.5m) as they propose a H1 dividend of 29p per share (2021: 27p per share). Their outlook is “strong” due to structural supply shortage in the global shipping fleet.
PageGroup says their FY22 outlook is unchanged as they expect an operating profit of £206m.
