The UK 100 called to open -95 points at 8577. The UK 100 looks set to fall sharply this morning, after US president Donald Trump imposed 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada.
The dollar has surged amid expectations the inflationary impact of the tariffs will result in US interest rates staying higher for longer than expected.
On Friday the broad market S&P index shed 0.50% to close at 6,040.53, while the Dow Jones tumbled 337.47 points, or 0.75%, weighed down by a decline in Chevron. The 30-stock Dow ended the session at 44,544.66. The tech-heavy Nasdaq slipped 0.28% to 19,627.44.
Serica Energy announces that the OFAC License and secondary sanctions assurance relating to the Rhum field have been extended by two months to 31 March 2025. This extension is to allow the processing of the Company’s application for a new long-term license to be completed following the transition in US Administrations. The License and assurance permit certain U.S. and U.S.-owned or controlled entities, and all non-U.S. entities, to continue providing goods, services and support to the Rhum field.
