Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 called to open -20 points this morning at 6139.  Overnight trading in Asia saw a continuation of Friday’s sentiment which saw global markets recent rally somewhat stall as Coronavirus cases in the US spiked to new record highs, this saw the Dow Jones sink back below 25,000.  The UK 100 index sits around previously identified support level, will it break below this today? or continued to find support and show further resilience as the UK prepares for bars, pubs and restaurants to reopen at the end of this week, following on from retails in mind June.  Brent crude trades at $40.15 a barrel, down 87 cents, whilst traditional safe haven gold trades at $1,787.90 an ounce, up $7.80

 

Company News:

 

AstraZeneca, in Brazil they announced they have signed a $127 million agreement with the drug company to start producing locally an experimental vaccine.

 

Berkeley Group announce that its founder and co chariman Tony Pidgley has died at the age of 72.

 

IAG has said it needs to cut 12,000 jobs and has proposed pay cuts for cabin crew, but has reached a deal with its pilots that will see 350 laid off.

 

Lookers announces £19m of non-cash adjustments necessary to correct overstatements in profitability over several years.
