Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +47 points at 8,186.  The UK 100 looks set to open at another fresh high this morning, continuing on from last weeks strong performance.  Stocks jumped Stateside Friday, and the S&P and Nasdaq notched their best week since November as Big Tech names rallied on strong earnings and traders pored through fresh U.S. inflation data.  The broad market index advanced 1.02% to settle at 5,099.96. The tech-heavy Nasdaq climbed 2.03% to close at 15,927.90 and secure its best daily move since February. The Dow Jones rose 153.86 points, or 0.4%, to finish at 38,239.66

Beazley reports that their Q1 2024 insurance written premiums increased 7% to $1.48bn, up from $1.38bn YoY.

 

Hipgnosis Songs Fund’s board agrees to Blackstone offer of $1.30 per share in cash valuing the company at $1.57bn.
