The UK 100 is called to open +94 points at at 10,830. The UK 100 is expected to start the week on a firmer footing after Iran and the US refrained from further military escalation over the weekend, easing concerns over disruptions to global energy supplies.
The S&P ended near flat on Friday, weighed down by chip stocks, as investors assessed the latest developments regarding the Middle East conflict. The broad market index added just 0.05% and closed at 7,411.98 while the Nasdaq dropped 0.64% to end at 24,975.82.The Dow Jones gained 235.60 points, or 0.46%, to settle at 51,947.25. A 3.5% jump in Apple boosted the blue-chip index.
Asian markets traded positively overnight, with Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rising 0.8%, Australia’s S&P/ASX 200climbing 1.3%, and both the Nikkei 225 and Shanghai Composite posting modest gains.
Rio Tinto and the Western Australian Government have signed non-binding agreements for a proposed sale of their respective joint venture shares in the Dampier Seawater Desalination Plant to Yindjibarndi WaterCo.
