Markets Overview:

 

 

The UK 100 is called to open +16 points today at 7302. A positive open is expected today on the UK 100, the major benchmark will be looking to see a fourth consecutive day of gains as it builds momentum coming into December.  Stateside yesterday saw a mixed session on Wall Street, The S&P ticked up 0.23% to close at 4,701.46, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq added 0.44% to finish at 15,845.23. The Dow Jones lost just 9.42 points and settled at 35,804.38.  In Asia this morning stocks were mixed on Thursday after South Korea raised its policy rate by 25 basis points to 1%. China’s Shanghai Composite slipped 0.08% while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rose 0.22%, the Nikkei in Japan gained 0.67% but South Korea’s Kospi slipped 0.45%.

Hill & Smith says they are on track for FY underlying profit to be in line with consensus.
 
Hochschild notes Peru government statement supporting mine permit extensions as they state that Inmaculada and Pallancata mines can continue without uncertainty. They have also reaffirmed their goal to increase resources and extend mine lives.
 
Mitchells & Butlers reports that their FY21 pretax loss narrowed to £42m (2020: £123m loss) as their operating profit was up to £81m (2020: £8m). They state trading remains challenging and costs continue to pressure.
