Markets Overview:


The UK 100 is called to open -40 points at at 10,421.
The UK 100 looks set to open lower this morning, giving up the gains made by the UK’s bluechip index.

Stateside saw the Nasdaq pull back on Wednesday.  The tech-heavy index slipped 0.43% to end at 25,476.64, while the S&P declined 0.10% to 7,358.22. The Dow Jones added 182.06 points, or 0.35%, to end at 51,848.90.

Oil prices continued their decline Wednesday. International benchmark Brent crude futures lost 4.33% to settle at $73.74 per barrel, seeing its lowest level since before the U.S. and Israel first launched airstrikes against Iran at the end of February. U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures slid 3.92% to settle at $70.34 a barrel and had earlier hit its lowest level since early March.

Asian equities surged on Thursday after strong earnings and forecasts from chip giants Micron and Qualcomm helped alleviate some concerns over the ​red-hot AI rally that has pushed global stocks to record highs.  Tech-heavy markets in Japan and South Korea rose sharply after Micron, said its customers ‌had committed $22 billion for its memory chips, while Qualcomm anticipates $15 billion in sales from its data centre business by 2029.

Barclays notes the Federal Reserve Board’s (FRB) publication of the results from its annual bank stress tests on 24 June 2026. The projected capital ratios for Barclays US LLC (Barclays’ US intermediate holding company) remained above the regulatory minimum required levels across all nine quarters of the test.

 

British budget carrier easyJet said on Thursday it had rejected a fourth, sweetened takeover approach of £6.50 per share from U.S.-based investment firm Castlelake, citing concerns about the deal’s ownership structure.
