The UK 100 is called to open +65 points this morning at 7065. The UK 100 looks set once again to bounce this morning, investors seem unperturbed after night of disastrous by-election results for the government, this led to the chair of the Conservative Party, Oliver Dowden, resigning. In the US yesterday, the Dow surged 194 points to close at 30,677 while the S&P 500 leapt 36 points to 3,796. The happy mood has continued in Asia this morning with Japan’s Nikkei 225 up 272 points to 26,444 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng 309 points firmer at 21,583.
Barclays buys Kensington Mortgage company for around £2.3bn.
Essentra sells packaging business to Mayr-Melnhof for £312m.
GlaxoSmithKline & Sanofi announce positive data from Omicron COVID vaccine.
RPS Group says trading in the 5 months ended May 27th was encouraging and ahead of expectations.
