Markets Overview:


The UK 100 is called to open -143 points at at 9,775.  
The UK 100 looks set to open sharply lower today as continued escalation in the US–Iran conflict and risk to the Strait of Hormuz continue to drive a supply-side energy shock, lifting global inflation expectations.

On Friday US equities extended losses, with the S&P 500 (-1.51%), Nasdaq (-2.01%) and Dow (-0.96%) closing sharply lower. The S&P has now declined for four consecutive weeks.Energy (+2.8% weekly) and Financials outperformed, while Materials and Staples (-4.5%) lagged. Tech (-1.9%) remained volatile.

Asian markets traded heavily lower, Japan’s Nikkei fell by more than 3% South Korea saw falls of 5–6%, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng dropped in excess of 3% and in China declines of 2% as geopolitical risk and rate repricing weighed.
