Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open -2 points at 7,768. UK 100 is set to open slightly lower on Monday as talks over raising the US debt ceiling continue. The US ended lower on Friday with the Dow closing -0.3%, S&P -0.1% and Nasdaq -0.2%. In Asia on Monday the Nikkei closed +0.8%, Shanghai -0.1% and Hong Kong +1.1%.

Dechra Pharmaceuticals sees their FY underlying operating profit to be below £186m. They state that the trading environment between January-April 2023 has been more volatile and challenging than anticipated.

 

Johnson Matthey and Hystar sign a 3-year partnership in renewable hydrogen production.

 

NatWest buys back 469.2m shares from HM Treasury for £1.26bn at 268.4p per share.

 

Ryanair swings to a 1.44bn euro profit as revenue doubles. They were cautiously optimistic that profits would rise modestly in the next 12 months, with summer demand notably robust.

 

Wise CFO Matthew Briers is to step down after 8 years in his role by March 2024.
