Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open +16 points this morning at 7362. The UK 100 looks set to open higher this morning after Retail sales data showed volumes rose 0.6% in October, above expectations for an increase of 0.3%.  In the US the Dow, S&P and Nasdaq all ended slightly lower in a subdued session as hawkish comments from a US Federal Reserve official and conflicting data as to the strength of the US economy saw investors pause for breath.  At the close the Dow was down 6 points, to 33,547, the S&P fell 12 points, or 0.3%, to 3,947 and the Nasdaq dropped 39 points, or 0.35%, to 11,145, all three major indices bounced during the session, recovering early sharp losses.
