UK 100 Called to open -17 points; at 7350 this is on the back of weaker than expected Chinese Industrial production data, this was the lowest reading for 17 1/2 years. The Dow closed the week with a positive trading session to close at 27,219 (An 8th straight day of gains!). As expected Chinese markets and shares were weaker seeing the Hang Seng closing the day down 301 points (1.10%). The biggest news however overnight is that of a drone strike on a Saudi oil facility, disrupting around 5% of the worlds supply of oil, this has seen the crude oil jump 10% (At time of writing) this equates to the biggest move in oil price since 1988, the attack is being blamed by the U.S on Iran. Gold has soared on the back of this Geo-political unrest, smashing through the $1500 barrier, to settle at $1505.
BP, Royal Dutch Shell, Premier Oil, Tullow Oil & Cairn Energy as oil posted its biggest intraday jump since 1988 (crude oil +10%) after a strike on a Saudi Arabian oil facility removed around 5% of global supplies.
Direct Line announce Tim Harris is to be appointed as CFO.
Tullow Oil announces that the Joe-1 exploration well has successfully opened a new upper tertiary oil play in the Guyana basin.
Petra Diamonds reports full year revenue -6% as diamond prices -5% in line with wider market. EBITDA -22%, full year net loss of $258.1m including non-cash impairment charge of $246.6m.
