UK 100 called to open +64 points this morning at 6380. Calls for a positive open come as optimism returned despite some of the euphoria from the Pfizer vaccine announcement wearing off, paired with news from Asia overnight that saw markets gaining, after 15 countries in the region signed a deal to form the world’s largest trade alliance, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). In Japan, the Nikkei 225 jumped 2.05%, while in China, the Shanghai Composite rose 0.81% and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index gained 0.60%.
Diploma reported FY revenue -1% y-o-y, operating profit -17% and total dividend +3%.
