Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +56 points at 7400.  The UK 100 is expected to open sharply higher after Credit Suisse announced Thursday that it would borrow almost US$54bn from the Swiss central bank to reinforce the group after a plunge in its share prices on Wednesday.  US markets closed well off earlier lows after the intervention by the Swiss Central Bank with the Nasdaq ending higher.  On Wall Street, the Dow Jones closed down 280.83 points, or 0.9% to close at 31,874.57, around 400 points higher than earlier lows. The S&P fell 27.36 points, or 0.7% to trade at 3,891.93, but the Nasdaq was the stand out performer, rising 5.90 points, or 0.1%, at 11,434.05.

Centamin report a 2022 pretax profit of $171m, up 11% from $153.6m YoY. Their 2023 gold production guidance remains unchanged at 450,000-480,000 ounces.

 

 

Credit Suisse have announced that they will borrow $53.7bn from the Swiss central bank to reinforce the group after a plunge in its share price.

 

 

Halma expects their adjusted pretax profit for FY23 to be in line with market expectations. Their order book is strong and intake is broadly in line with revenue, ahead of the same period YoY.

 

 

Investec expects their FY adjusted EPS to be 66-70p, up from 55.1p in FY22. They also expect FY adjusted operating profit of £782.8m-£833.6m, up from £687.4m previously.

 

 

Rentokil Initial expects good underlying trading momentum in 2023 as they raise their medium-term guidance for organic revenue growth to at least 5% from 4.5-5% previously.

 

 

United Utilities CEO Steve Mogford is to step down on March 31st as Louise Beardmore is to take over.
