Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open +13 points at at 10,443.
The UK 100 looks set to open slightly higher on Tuesday, as optimism over a US-Iran peace deal continues to support risk appetite and push oil prices lower.

US President Donald Trump said ships were once again moving through the Strait of Hormuz and that the vital shipping route would be “completely open” by Friday, after Washington and Tehran announced a deal to end the Middle East war.

Iranian media reported on Monday evening that three oil tankers and two cargo vessels had already passed through waters previously affected by a US naval blockade.

In Asia on Tuesday, the Nikkei index in Tokyo was up 0.5%, after the Bank of Japan raised interest rates by 25 basis points to 1.0%, as expected.  The move takes Japanese interest rates to their highest level since 1995. The decision passed by a 7-1 vote, with Toichiro Asada the sole dissenter.  In China, the Shanghai Composite was down 0.3%, while the Hang Seng index in Hong Kong fell 1.6%. The S&P/ASX 200 in Sydney was marginally lower.

SpaceX shares surged a further 20% after the company said it had raised a record $85.7 billion. The second day of gains cemented the largest stock market debut in history, lifting the company’s valuation above $2.5 trillion and helping make founder Elon Musk the world’s first trillionaire.

Stocks rose Stateside on Monday to kick off the holiday-shortened trading week as SpaceX extended its rally and after President Donald Trump announced that an agreement had been reached to end the war between the U.S. and Iran.

The Dow Jones added 468.77 points, or 0.92%, for a record close of 51,671.03. The 30-stock index also hit a new all-time intraday high during the session. The S&P climbed 1.65% to 7,554.29, while the Nasdaq popped 3.07% to end at 26,683.94. The tech-heavy index notched its best day since March 31.

SpaceX shares popped nearly 20% after soaring 19% in their public market debut on Friday.
