Markets Overview:

 

The UK 100 is called to open +28 points this morning at 7305.  The UK 100 expected to make a bright start to the day following gains on Wall Street overnight.  At the close the Dow Jones was 30 points higher, or 0.1%, at 31,135, The S&P gained 13 points, or 0.34%, to 3,946, while the Nasdaq rose 86 points, or 0.74%, to 11,720.

DFS Furniture reports that their FY pretax profit fell to £58.5m, down from £102.6m the year before. Order volumes softened in Q4 of FY22 and Q1 of FY23 versus pre-pandemic as they guide their FY23 profit before tax and amortisation in the range of £20-54m.

 

 

Hilton Food anticipates that their FY profit will be below expectations as they blame this on macroeconomic headwinds.

 

 

Renishaw reports that their FY22 pretax profit has risen to £145.6m (2021: £139.4m) as they declare a 72.6p dividend per share (2021: 66p per share). They state that start to FY23 was positive, with a strong order book but posts cautions outlook as order intake from semiconductor sector is weaker.

 

 

Shell CEO Ben van Beurden will step down at the end of 2022 with Wael Sawan to take over as new CEO on Jan 1st.

 

 

Trainline report that their H1 FY23 net ticket sales are up to £2.2bn, +17% v H1 FY20 as they see UK rail passenger numbers recover.

 

 

Wickes report a H1 pretax profit of £33.5m, down 6.2% from £25.7m YoY. They have declared an interim dividend of 3.6p, +71% YoY. They back their FY adjusted pretax profit guidance of £72-82m.

 

 

Wizz Air buys a further 102 Airbus A321 from Airbus SAS.
