The UK 100 called to open +31 points this morning at 8,095. The UK 100 looks set to open higher this morning,

Tech stocks led Asian markets higher this morning after Donald Trump’s move late last week to partially lift tariffs on smartphones and some other goods, but investors remain confused by exactly what the U.S. administration plans to do next.

Stocks climbed on Wall Street on Friday as Wall Street wrapped up a historically wild week.  The S&P advanced 1.81% to end at 5,363.36. The Dow Jones rose 619.05 points, or 1.56%, and closed at 40,212.71. The Nasdaq climbed 2.06% to settle at 16,724.46.

Ashmore this morning announced reported higher annual net outflows due to large institutional redemptions.  Still, it said emerging markets performed well amid volatility and a weaker US dollar and it sees opportunities as investors look to switch out of US capital markets.

 

John Wood Group has received a possible offer of 35 pence per share from engineering consultant Sidara. The offer includes a possible capital injection of $450 million from Sidara to Wood and Wood’s board has indicated to Sidara it would recommend a firm offer. Wood Group shares closed at 25 pence on Friday, having dropped more than 80% over the last 12 months.
