Markets Overview:

UK 100 called to open +10 at 7297 this morning. Global stocks overnight hit a record high for the first time time since early 2018, as Donald Trump signs off on a trade deal with China which will avert tariffs set for the 15th December. The DOW rallied over 200 points overnight.  GBP/USD hit 18 month highs last night as the Conservatives swept away with a majority in UK general elections. Boris Johnson’s mandate should be easier to push through now, and Brexit hopefully will be delivered (at some point!). This win will deliver more political certainty for markets, which is much needed at the moment. Crude pushed higher last night with WTI settling up 0.57% at $59.52, whilst Gold finished down 0.1% at $1470.9.

In corporate news this morning:

Centamin have appointed Ross Jerrard as their interim CEO effective immediately.

Hurricane Energy reports strong performance at its Lancaster EPS wells. FY19 guidance of producing 3.1m barrels of oil (13,000 bopd) with revenues of $165m. Lancaster EPS average production rate guidance maintained for FY20 at 20,000 bopd.
