Markets Overview:

 

The UK 100 is called to open +57 points this morning at 7300. The UK 100 looks set to start on front foot as Global rally lifts sentiments.  On Wall Street yesterday markets fell early in the session before bouncing back towards the end of the session, with two out of the major benchmarks eking out gains by the close. The Dow Jones closed 84 points or 0.26% lower at 32,160 for Tuesday, whilst the S&P recouped 0.25% to 4,001 and the Nasdaq rallied nearly 1% to close trading at 11,737. The small-cap focussed Russell index meanwhile edged slightly lower to 1,761.  In Asia, sentiment continued on a positive trajectory from the mood towards the end of the US session, Japan’s Nikkei was trading up 0.3% at 26,243 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng strengthened more than 2% to 20,055. The Shanghai Composite similarly gained 1.9% to 3,094.

Company News:

Brewin Dolphin report that their total funds as of March 31st increased 7% to £56.3bn. Their H1 2022 pretax profit fell 5.7% to £38.4m.

 

 

Compass Group raised its annual revenue forecast and announced a £500m share buyback after a strong H1, as food catering volumes picked up from COVID-19 pandemic lows. They raised their FY 2022 organic revenue growth forecast to around 30% from 20-25%.

 

 

ITV reported Q1 total revenues of £1bn v $856m YoY, +17%. Their net debt increased QoQ to £435m from £414m previously. They remain on track to deliver their £17m cost saving target for 2022.

 

 

TP ICAP records growth across all business divisions in Q1 as their total revenue increased to £556m, +15% YoY.

 

 

TUI reported a Q2 pretax loss of 466.5m euros, which narrowed from a 736.9m euros loss YoY. Their H1 pretax loss came in at 871m euros, narrowing from a 1.54bn euros loss YoY. They expect to return to significantly positive underlying EBIT for FY22. They have 3.8bn euros of available liquidity after handing back some state support.
