The UK 100 is called to open +54 points this morning at 7270. The UK 100 looks set to start today on the front foot, following yesterdays global market fall, which saw the UK’s blue chip index give up more than 2% to kick off the week. On Wall street overnight stocks on the Nasdaq and the Russell indices, fell over 4% to levels last seen in late 2020. The S&P 500 index gave up 3.2% and the Dow Jones dropped 2%. Stocks in Asia also mainly dropped this morning, Japan’s Nikkei fell 0.29% and South Korea’s Kospi slipped 0.37%. The Shanghai Composite in China however gained 1.07% while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index declined 1.88% after returning to trade following a holiday on Monday.
Centrica expects their FY adjusted earnings per share to around the top range of recent expectations.
Galliford Try updates that they continue to trade in line with management expectations.
Renishaw reports a pretax profit of £124m for the 9 months to March 31st, +47% YoY. They continue to record strong demand and they anticipate their FY adjusted pretax profit to be between £155-170m.
Wizz Air reports that their April 2022 passenger numbers were up at 3.62m v 564,634 the year before. They are exploring an expansion in Saudi Arabia, as they sign MoU with ministry of investment.
