Index Focus - 10 October 2016

Equities are mixed again morning amid a muted start to the weak with the US, Canada and Japan absent for holidays. UK Index Banks are being held back by harsh rhetoric from the Washington IMF/World Bank meeting and disgruntled Lloyds shareholders reacting to Friday’s cancellation of a discounted hare sale and easyJet glides lower. Precious metals miners are topping the board after Trump’s performance last night while industrial metals are helped by a weaker USD and positive China data. Hopes that a bond rally maintains the hunt for yield is seeing demand for defensives hold true. Stronger EUR hurting DAX along with persistent Deutsche Bank concerns.

The UK 100 is testing late Friday lows of 7025 having potentially breached 7035 intersecting rising support going back to 28 Sept. The DAX 30 is selling back from recent 10650 highs from the ceiling of a 2-month down channel. Dow Jones Futures are edging back from the 10300 ceiling of a 18160-18320 narrowing pattern. Gold has bounced from $1250 having been very oversold on the RSI. Rebound?
