Major Support & Resistance (pivot points – explained):
Pivot Point: 6581; Support 1, 2 & 3: 6552, 6504, 6475; Resistance 1, 2 & 3: 6629, 6659, 6706
The UK Index has started on the front foot this morning after a strong finish to last week both here and in the States. With the UK Index still down around 2.7% this year we look towards the companies reporting this week (including the Banks) to see if they can give the markets a boost back up towards the high of the year. This month has so far seen the UK Index eat into some of the losses that we saw throughout January, although we are still some 290 points off these levels.
The first obstacle is the R1 pivot level of 6625, followed by 6648 and then 6692. Should 6692 be convincingly breached then a push towards 6670 and 6800 could be on the cards. On the downside we may see support at 6558 followed by 6514 and 6491.
