Miners rise sharply on the UK 100 , standing out on a day of otherwise narrow margins. Shares in Anglo American gain 3.5% to 534p with the news that chief executive Mark Cutifani last year took an 8.3% cut to his renumeration package to GBP3.4 million, following the company’s poor financial performance. Shares in Glencore also jump, and are up by 4.4% to 148p. Accendo analyst Mike van Dulken puts Glencore’s rise down to a jump in copper prices, which are close to March highs, with the commodity beating peers after a reported surge in Japanese Machine Orders and soothing Chinese rhetoric after weaker industrial figures.
