Markets Overview:


The UK 100 is called to open -34 points at at 10,797.  
Stocks in London are set to open lower on Monday in the aftermath of Friday’s nonfarm payrolls, falling slightly as the Middle East conflict keeps a lid on enthusiasm, though over in Tokyo, AI enthusiasm supported shares.

Markets in the US are closed today for the Labor Day holiday.

In New York on Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 0.5%, the S&P lost 0.4% and the Nasdaq Composite declined 0.3%.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 surged 2.0%, supported by a 9.9% rise for SoftBank Group.  In China, the Shanghai Composite was up 0.1%. The Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong was down 0.9%. Sydney’s S&P/ASX 200 was up 0.1%.
