The UK 100 is called to open -20 points at at 10,456. The UK 100 looks set to open lower on Friday as investors digest the political fallout from Labour’s Makerfield by-election victory and continue to assess the implications of the US-Iran peace agreement.
Wall Street closed higher on Thursday, with technology stocks leading gains. The Nasdaq rose 1.9%, the S&P 500 added 1.1% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average edged 0.1% higher. US markets are closed on Friday for the Juneteenth holiday.
In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell despite a modest rise in inflation, while Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 dropped more than 1%. Markets in mainland China and Hong Kong remained closed for public holidays.
Barratt Redrow today announces the appointment of Rebecca Napier as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director of the Group. Rebecca will join Barratt Redrow with effect from 3 August 2026. Rebecca is an experienced business leader with a strong track record across finance, strategy, investor relations, transformation and performance. Most recently CFO of Britvic plc until its acquisition by Carlsberg Group in 2025, she previously spent 17 years at IAG plc, including as CFO of British Airways. Rebecca began her career at Deloitte, having qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
