Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open -39 points at at 10,370.
The UK 100 looks set to start in the red on Monday.  Oil prices have crept slightly higher on reports of more fighting in the Gulf as the US and Iran fail to come to an agreement.

US futures are positive, showing 0.6% higher for the tech-powered Nasdaq and 0.1% higher for the blue-chip Dow Jones.  This follows U.S. equities closing at record highs on Friday, while crude prices had slipped, helping the major averages score a winning month, boosted by technology.  The Nasdaq settled up 0.2% at 26,972.62, while the S&P climbed 0.22% to 7,580.06. The Dow Jones finished up 363.49 points, or 0.72%, at 51,032.46. All three indexes hit fresh all-time intraday highs earlier as well.  Dell Technologies was a major contributor to this, with Shares surging nearly 33%, seeing its best day on record, after the laptop maker reported a first-quarter beat on both the top and bottom lines and raised its full-year guidance.

Asian markets were mostly in green this morning, including gains for Nikkei and Hang Seng of 1.1% and 0.9% in Tokyo and Hong Kong.

EasyJet said it has not held any discussions with Castlelake and has received no approach from the investment firm, after the US private equity firm disclosed on Friday that it was considering a possible offer for the airline.  EasyJet said its board “will consider any proposal, should one be made”, but stressed it would focus on both valuation and deliverability.  Under UK takeover rules, Castlelake’s ‘put up or shut up’ deadline is 5pm on 26 June 2026.
