The UK 100 is called to open -14 points at at 10,422.
The UK 100 is expected to open the week slightly lower as investors focus on a critical deadline set by US President Donald Trump for Iran to reach a new agreement. The President has warned that if no deal is finalized by 8pm Eastern Time tonight, the United States will destroy Iran’s bridges and power plants. This heightened tension has pushed Brent crude oil prices back above $111 per barrel, reflecting market fears regarding potential disruptions to global energy supplies, particularly the Strait of Hormuz.
While US markets saw modest gains on Monday with the Nasdaq and S&P 500 rising, European indices are facing caution following the weekend. Analysts note a shift in US strategy, with the President now prioritizing the reopening of oil shipping lanes as a condition for a deal. Consequently, the UK 100, which had rebounded significantly last week, is projected to dip as traders weigh the risks of escalating military action against the potential for a diplomatic breakthrough.
