Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open +65 points at 9,749.
The UK100 looks set to rebound this morning, as inflation continues to retreat and open the door for the Bank of England to cut interest rates.   The consumer price index for November was up 3.2% on a year ago, easing from rise of 3.6% in October and below the forecast 3.5%.  This was thanks to a month-on-month fall of 0.2% in November. The core rate of CPI, which excludes the more volatile energy and food prices, also was down to 3..2% from 3.4%, while the services CPI, used as a measure of the persistence of inflation, cooled to 4.4% from 4.5%.

The S&P fell for a third session Tuesday as traders digested the delayed release of the November jobs report.  The broad market index dropped 0.24% to settle at 6,800.26, while the Nasdaq gained 0.23% to end at 23,111.46. The Dow Jones declined 302.30 points, or 0.62%, to close at 48,114.26.

Company News:

Bunzl said it reiterated the 2025 adjusted operating profit guidance first set out within first quarter trading update. Group revenue in 2025 is expected to grow between 2% and 3%, at constant exchange rates, and to be broadly flat at actual exchange rates. Group revenue growth at constant exchange rates is expected to be driven by acquisitions, with broadly flat underlying revenue over the year.  The Group said its adjusted operating profit is expected to be in-line with expectations, with operating margin around 7.6%. Bunzl plc expects to demonstrate a moderation of the Group’s year-on-year operating margin decline in the second half compared to the first half of the year.
