Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open -16 points at 9,704.
The UK100 index is set for a slight fall at today’s opening bell, having closed on Friday 0.3% higher at 9720.51.

Oil and gold prices are in focus after OPEC backed a pause on production increases and the precious metal benefited from US interest rate cut expectations.  Brent Crude lifted 1.8% to $63.50 a barrel in Asia trading hours while gold has continued its advance with a rise of 0.5% to $4239 an ounce.

Stock futures were little changed on Sunday night following a winning week, as traders get set to wrap up a strong 2025.  Dow Jones slipped 18 points. Futures tied to the S&P and Nasdaq hovered around the flatline.

Today marks the first day of December, and investors have some momentum at their backs. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite last week ripped higher by 3.7% and 4.9%, respectively, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 3.2%.
