Index Focus - 14 September 2016

Equities are nicely positive this morning, trying to maintain their uptrends from this week’s lows despite uncertainty about what is on the way in terms of monetary policy updates from a host of central banks over the next 5 sessions. While USD is normally a hindrance, positives noises from the commodity space are nonetheless serving to buoy market sentiment via a mild oil price bounce after revived supply glut jitters and a Copper breakout potentially offering an early bullish signal for other base metals and global growth.

The UK 100 has broken this week’s trend of falling highs to trade back above 6700. The DAX 30 is at the 10400 apex of its week-long narrowing pattern. Will it break higher or lower? Dow Jones futures have made a bullish break from yesterday’s downtrend to resume this week’s uptrend at 18080. Gold has bounced off $1315 to maintain the 2016 uptrend. Upside potential to $1345?
