Index Focus – 11 Jun - 11 June 2014

The DAX managed another record intra-day high but only just and with the S&P500 and DJIA registering lower highs we wonder whether recent positive momentum is beginning to flag. That’s not to say we necessarily expect a correction, but at least a sideways move as a pause for breath following recent gains.

The UK UK Index  has again failed to better its most recent highs which results in falling highs from mid-May. With the 6775-6897 range intact, 6870 may now have become initial resistance and yesterday’s bounce from 6835 initial support. Talk of peers and all-time highs makes the UK Index the ugly duckling, but we all know how that story ends.

Germany’s DAX pushed on to a new all-time high, making it to 10025, but is back testing 1-month rising lows. This leads us to look further out to the 3-month trend which shows support at 9900 and RSI not yet oversold.

The US Dow Jones’ managed another record high close, but not a record intra-day high, which leaves us with a lower high, and the possibility of a slowing up in recent gains. Watch for any move from the current 16900-16970 range. Daily RSI overbought and starting to turn back: last major signal was oversold in early Feb before 1630pt rally.
