Contract for difference (CFD) trading is particularly popular in the UK because it is not subject to stamp duty under current UK law. CFD trading offers pricing benefits and flexibility. Because best CFD provider (execution only) Accendo Markets offers multi-venue trading, when placing equity orders this means that the CFD trader can select the exchange that offers the best price.
CFD trading magnifies the trader’s buying power as it trades on an underlying asset; a commodity, a share price or currency, paying or receiving the difference between the opening and closing price of the underlying asset. The CFD trader trades in the financial markets without actually owning the underlying asset on which the CFD is based.
Traders can make money on CFDs whether the price of the asset goes up or down. You can choose to go long (making money when the market price rises) or to go short (making money when the market price falls). Of course, if the market rises when you chose to go short, or falls when you went long, then you will make a loss. You can practise your trading strategy before committing funds with our free trial CFD trading platform. At Accendo Markets we give you the best opportunity to succeed in CFD trading, which is why we were voted best CFD provider (execution only).
What can I trade using CFDs?
At Accendo Markets you can trade a vast range of assets. CFD markets include:
- Soft commodities like coffee and wheat
- Precious metals like silver and gold
- Base metals such as copper and lead
- Indices like FTSE 100 and S&P 500 and their constituent shares
- Major currency pairs e.g. EUR/USD, GBP/EUR
As a CFD trader, you will have Direct Market Access (DMA). This allows you to place orders directly into your trading venue of choice and this includes the London Stock Exchange.
CFDs have no contract expiry that means that you can hold the investment for as long as you like. However, the CFD margin used to open the position may be increased if the market moves against you. If excess equity is held in your trading account, it will be used to uphold the position. If no spare equity is available, more funds will be required to maintain the position. Taking this into account, your CFD margin should be monitored and stop-losses should be considered in order to help mitigate risk.
If you have any questions about CFD trading or would like to congratulate the 2012 best CFD provider (execution only) we would be pleased to hear from you.
