Development

National Grid are working with other companies in the US to develop a new cable capable of carrying up to five times more power than a conventional cable. By cooling the cable to -200 degrees centigrade with liquid nitrogen channelled through its core, the cable no longer suffers from energy loss as with ordinary cables. In effect the cable becomes super conductive.
