Analyst Comments

Attractive technical set-up in terms of downtrend and downside potential. Results from peer Scottish Power were suggestive of customer loss to cheaper deals from the 60 competitors in UK market and milder weather reduced demand for Gas & Electricity. New legislation to protect vulnerable from price increases. Capital intensive sector, does not welcome higher interest rates. Investors have a clear preference for risk assets over defensives.

Consensus is very balanced, with most brokers neutral. However, significant declines of late may encourage/force some to downgrade both ratings and targets. Especially with 80% of brokers implying upside potential for the shares (only because shares have fallen) and most analyst updates all maintaining neutral stances.
