Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 is called to open +14 points this morning at 6902.  Asian shares lagged on Thursday as the US futures hit record highs again. This was after the federal reserve underlined its commitment to keeping a loose policy despite the economy recovering quicker than expected. Joe Biden also supported the move to raise corporate tax rate to 28% from 21%. This would be the main way to fund the $2 trillion infrastructure plan. This would affect Silicon Valley companies the most. Oil slipped back as Brent was down 38cents to $62.78 a barrel whilst US Crude fell 40cents to $59.36.

 

Company News & Broker Comments:

ASOS reports that their H1 revenue has risen 24% to £1.98bn as their pretax profit jumps to £106.4m (from £30.1m).
 
Dunelm‘s Q3 sales fell 17% YoY to £236.6m as most of their stores were shut during the period. They do expect a strong customer response when restrictions are lifted, and they expect to end the FY modestly ahead of the top range of analyst forecasts.
 
Ferrexpo says Q1 pellet output fell 0.4% YoY to 2.7m tonnes.
Johnson Matthey says FY performance to be around top end of market expectations as H2 is “materially stronger” after virus disruption.
