Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 called to open -30 points this morning at 6337.  A weaker open is expected this morning as some of the positive sentiment we saw on the back of hopes of a quicker than expected roll out of a vaccine have given way to concerns over new lockdown measures.  It was a quiet session in Asia this morning, where Japan and China both slipped back. Futures markets suggested the US S&P 500 would slip 0.2% when US markets open this afternoon.

 

Company News:

Aviva has completed the majority sale in Aviva Singapore to a consortium led by Singapore Life, and will be renamed Aviva Singlife Holdings Ltd. the deal was comprised of 2bn SGD (Singapore dollars) and marketable securities, 250m SGD in vendor finance notes and a 26% equity shareholding in Aviva Singlife.

AstraZeneca’s Forxiga (dapaglifozin) has been approved in Japan for the treatment of patients with chronic heart failure, who are receiving standard of care.

Hochschild Mining has announced today that significant COVID-19 cases in the Santa Cruz area in Argentina has resulted in temporary lockdown of various mines. Their San Jose operation has been ordered to stop production and is currently undertaking a deep-clean of the facilities. Resumption is expected on 4th December, subject to permission from authorities.

Indivior has reviewed the claim by Reckitt Benckiser against them. At the moment, the claim has not been served on the company. Indivior believe the claim is without merit and they have strong grounds for defending against it. The company will make further announcements as appropriate.
