Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 called to open +27 points at 7275 this morning; This comes after a slight pull back yesterday.  Overnight Donald Trump said Boris Johnson’s Brexit plan will make it harder for the U.K. to strike a trade deal with the U.S. once executed. The nations could “do much bigger numbers” if the PM made a cleaner break from the EU.  The US had a largely negative trading session, the Dow closed -0.52%; the S&P 500 -0.3% and the Nasdaq -0.14%.  Trading in Asia was mixed, the Nikkei closed -0.33%; the Hang Seng however closed +0.66%. This was on the back of a better than expected read on Chinese manufacturing data.  Oil dropped below $60 a barrel.  Whilst Gold rallied back through the $1500 handle to settle at $1511.

 

In corporate news this morning:

 

BHP has approved $44m for BHP Billiton Brasil Ltda’s share of funding for work related to the restart of one concentrator at Samarco Mineração S.A.’s (Samarco) operations at its Germano complex in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

 

Evraz Q3 2019 update that crude steel output -3.4% QoQ. Total steel product sales remained flat, production of raw coking coal -9.7% and crude steel production -13.2%. 

 

Vodafone announce strategic partnership with Fairphone to bring ethical fairphone 3 smartphone to their European customers.
