UK 100 called to open -30 points this morning at 6333. Calls for a slightly muted open come on the back of a more mixed picture in Asia on Wednesday morning, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 down 1.05% while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 0.23%. There was evidence of a wobble in the positive sentiment on Wall Street during Tuesday’s session, with the Dow Jones closing down 0.56% at 29,783 while the S&P 500 dropped 0.48% to 3.609 and the Nasdaq fell 0.21% to 11,899.
Aviva completes sale of shareholding in Indonesia.
British Land have confirmed the sales of Clarges, Mayfair to Deka for £177m.
Croda announces the acquisition of Iberchem. The proposed placing of ordinary shares is expected to raise net proceeds of circa £600m.
Halfords reported a more than doubling in H1 profit, boosted by a COVID-19-driven cycling boom. They made an underlying pretax profit of £56m, up from £25.9m in the same period last year.
RSA Insurance have received a cash offer worth £7.2bn from Canadian insurer Intact Financial and Danish insurer Tryg. RSA said its directors intended to recommend unanimously that shareholders vote in favour of the scheme.
SSE report that H1 adjusted operating profit was down 15% to £418.3m and adjusted profit before tax down 26% to £193.9m. Coronavirus impact on operating profit estimated at £115m. Adjusted EPS down 34% to 11.9p, within the expected 10-12.5p range.
