Markets Overview:

UK Index called to open +25 Points at 7292 this morning; This comes on the back of further easing in tensions between the US and China amid hopes that a deal could be struck early in October, as China have said they may buy more U.S farm goods in an attempt to smooth a deal. This saw a positive trading session Stateside with the Dow Jones rallying for a 5th consecutive day 0.6% rise (160 points) all other markets ended the day in the green too, in Asia overnight it was a similar position with the Nikkei and the Hang Seng both added in excess of 1%. Oil has maintained its $63 handle overnight.  Gold continued to sell off yesterday as risk on sentiment took over.

 

In corporate news this morning:

Galliford Try announced full year profit before tax of £104.7m (2018: £143.7m), group revenue £2,711m (2018: £2,932m) and a dividend per share of 58.0p. Construction results impacted by contract write-downs and restructuring costs previously announced. Group continues to trade well against backdrop of continuing political and economic uncertainty.

Man Group announces that Jonathan Sorrell will step down as president and as an executive director with immediate effect.
