Markets Overview:

UK 100 is called to open -87 points this morning at 7036.  Calls for a sharp fall this morning come after US markets were spooked yesterday by renewed fears of inflation. US government bond yields also jumped as inflation expectations hit their highest levels since 2011. Wall Street saw US indices fall after its record highs last week, a continuation of the recent tech sell-off lead the Nasdaq lower, giving up 2.6% and the S&P 500 dropped by 1%, while Dow Jones notched another record but ended with a 0.1% decline. Asian markets were also significantly lower this morning, with the Nikkei falling 3.2% and the Hang Seng retreating by 1.7%.
