Markets Overview:

UK 100 called to open flat at 7167 (ex-dividends have had a 9 point impact); in focus today will be the resumption of U.S.-China trade talks in Washington amid more mixed signals. The U.S. may include a currency pact as part of a first-phase deal that would also suspend planned tariff hikes, people familiar said. The Dow Jones yesterday rallied 180 points in anticipation of today’s talks, during Asian trading we saw the Nikkei rise 57 points, the Hang Seng 85 points, does this global rise in equity markets point towards a more positive sentiment? During yesterday’s trading we saw oil prices edge higher, only to give up gains during the closed hours. Gold is unchanged having peaked to month highs overnight before retracing, holding firm at $1507.
